Effective date: 24 October 2026
Short version: the Culprit app collects nothing and never connects to the internet. This website keeps your email only if you join the beta list, and only to email you about Culprit.
Who we are
Culprit is a macOS menu bar app made by Blureon Labs (“we”, “us”). Questions about your data go to hello@findculprit.com.
The Culprit app
Culprit is read-only. It reads what macOS already reports about your apps, memory, energy and storage, and shows it to you.
- It makes no network connections. Nothing about your Mac is sent to us or to anyone else.
- There is no account, no sign-in, and no analytics or telemetry.
- What it measures stays on your Mac, in ~/Library/Application Support/Culprit. Delete that folder, or the app, and it is gone.
- Culprit Pro licence keys are checked on your Mac, offline.
- Full Disk Access is optional. If you grant it, Culprit only uses it to measure folder sizes. It does not read, upload or change what is inside your files.
- If you send us feedback, we only get what you choose to put in that email.
This website
findculprit.com is a static website hosted on Cloudflare.
- We don’t use cookies, analytics or ad trackers.
- Like any host, Cloudflare processes technical data such as your IP address and browser details to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. Cloudflare’s own privacy policy covers that.
- If we ever add privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics, we will update this page first.
The beta list
If you join the beta list, we store:
- your email address
- the time you signed up
- which form you used (top or bottom of the home page)
- a one-way hash of your IP address, used only to stop abuse (rate limiting). We don’t store the IP address itself.
This is stored in Cloudflare D1, Cloudflare’s database service. We use it to email you the download link and launch news about Culprit, such as Culprit Pro and the early-bird price. We never sell, rent or share it.
To leave the list or have your data deleted, email hello@findculprit.com from that address and we will delete it within 30 days. Every email we send will also have an unsubscribe link. We keep your entry until you leave or until we stop sending launch news, whichever comes first.
Payments
Culprit Pro will be sold by Blureon Labs through our payment provider, Dodo Payments, which acts as the Merchant of Record. Dodo Payments handles card data, taxes and invoices; we never see or store your card details.
When you buy, Dodo Payments shares with us what we need to issue and support your licence: your name, email address, country and order details. Dodo Payments’ own privacy policy covers the data it processes.
Who else handles data
- Cloudflare: hosts the website and the beta list database.
- Dodo Payments: processes Pro purchases, once Pro is on sale.
- When we start sending email, we will use an email delivery service and name it here.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to show you, correct or delete the personal data we hold about you, or to stop emailing you. Laws such as the EU and UK GDPR and India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 give you these rights. Email hello@findculprit.com and we will reply within 30 days. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
Culprit and the beta list are not meant for children under 16, and we don’t knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and its effective date. If a change matters and you are on the beta list, we will email you.
